Giving

We rely on the generosity of our congregations and visitors to pay our Parish Share (see leaflet) and to maintain our buildings. Similar to running a household efficiently, we need to have enough money to cover our essential outgoings.  Therefore, it is really important to know how much money is coming in each month.  Every month our churches have their regular costs such as Parish Share, gas, electricity, water and insurance.  If possible, money is reserved for essential building maintenance and repairs.

If we have to rely on whatever is put in the collection plates, we won’t have any idea of how much income we will receive and can’t easily budget.  Planned Giving overcomes this, if you promise to give a certain amount each week or each month we can then plan for the future.  If you are a UK Income Tax payer, you can sign a gift aid declaration, this enables us to claim back the tax on your donation at no extra cost to you, this is 25% of your donation! Standing Orders are really the easiest way to give to the church. If you choose to give by Standing Order, your giving is sorted and you won’t have to think about finding money each week. Please use the online form (accessed by clicking here) and send it to your bank or set up your Standing Order via your online banking or telephone banking. If you wish to use a version of the form which includes a Gift Aid declaration, that can be accessed by clicking here.  If you prefer our treasurer will be able to supply a Standing Order form, and will arrange for it to be sent to the bank. Many people no longer carry cash and more transactions are made with a contactless debit or credit card.  It is possible for us to accept donations by card at St Laurence, St Catherine, or the Parish Office, not a substitute for regular Planned Giving, but does give visitors an opportunity to donate.
