Singing Sessions with Adrian Bawtree, Organist at Canterbury Cathedral
Adrian Bawtree, organist at Canterbury Cathedral set up a singing group for older people, including those with dementia, called FRIENDly Music for Wellbeing, on behalf of Friends of Canterbury Cathedral. It started to meet before lockdown, and Adrian is now making short films to encourage people to sing at home; they are on Canterbury Cathedral’s YouTube channel and the links are below. They could be used by carers struggling at home with a relative with dementia under lockdown, and also staff in care homes. Friends of Canterbury Cathedral are keen for us to spread the word, so please do pass on information to individuals and care homes you are in touch with. Week of Accompanied Prayer 19th – 25th July 2020
Rev. Brian has asked me to publicise the Week of Accompanied Prayer It is for all who feel drawn to spending time in prayer. If you are interested, whether or not you have done anything like this before, please do feel free to get in touch to find out more. During the week, you are simply encouraged to put aside some time each day for prayer – we suggest 30 minutes. You will be paired with a Prayer Accompanier, who will either phone you, or make contact via computer, at the same time each day for 20–30 minutes. The intention is for you to listen to God through praying with scripture and in talking and reflecting with your Accompanier. There are limited spaces. The St Laurence Church boiler
I am pleased to announce that the fitting of the new boiler in St Laurence Church has been completed and tested successfully. Thank you to all of you who gave so generously and to Freda in the Parish Office who coordinated the work.
