THE COLLECT FOR TODAY

Merciful Lord, absolve your people from their offences, that through your bountiful goodness we may all be delivered from the chains of those sins, which by our frailty we have omitted; grant this, heavenly Father for Jesus’ sake, our blessed Lord and Saviour – who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

THE COLLECT FOR MOTHERING SUNDAY

God of compassion, whose Son Jesus Christ, the child of Mary, shared the life of a home in Nazareth, and on the cross drew the whole human family to himself: strengthen us in our daily living that in joy and in sorrow we may know the power of your presence to bond together and to heal.  Through Jesus Christ your son, our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

It is with great sadness that we have to share the news of the passing of two long-standing members of our parish: Miss Pam Knight and Mr Peter Atherton, both on the same day.  Pam Knight had a career in teaching which led to her being headmistress of Ellington Infants.  She was also, after her retirement, a lay reader in our parish for many years and Reader Emeritus once her health declined and she was no longer able to continue. Peter Atherton and his wife Joan were stalwarts of the congregation of St Laurence and supported fund-raising by organizing quizzes, Joan being the question-master.

Please add their souls, and their families in their mourning, to your prayers.

PEOPLE FOR PRAYER

(Each church warden should have been sent these in an e-mail from Malcolm Story)
