BELLEPLATE AFTERNOON: Saturday 28^th June, 2 - 4 pm, in St Mark Church Hall.

Come along and hear a variety of music from St Mark Belleplate group.

Light refreshments will be served. Donations welcome for church funds. – Jan Austin

ST LAWRENCE CLOCK APPEAL:  Saturday 28^th June Open Garden with strawberries and cream – running from 10:00am until 5:00pm at 5 Thorn Gardens, CT11 7AS. There will be a chance to wander round Pat’s amazing garden taking in all the delights, while sitting and having most delicious strawberries and cream tea. There will also be a tombola and a raffle. There is no charge to enter, however Pat has requested that you donate what you think your strawberries and cream tea is worth and give what you can to the clock restoration appeal on the day.

Saturday 2^nd August at 3pm – an afternoon organ recital by Tim Attride in St Laurence church. Tickets will be on sale soon.  

Thank you to everyone who came to the art show on 31st May. We raised £471.00 for the clock appeal. The total now stands at £16,345. Remember you can donate direct to the clock appeal bank account by standing order. £10 a month equals £120 a year raised. If we managed to get 20 people doing a £10 monthly donation that would be £2,400 a year. The more who donate the quicker we will be able to start the work. The bank account is with Lloyds in the name of St Lawrence Clock Restoration Appeal, sort code 33-99-50, account number 37336762. – Freda Parker

FAMILY WALKS: On the second Tuesday of June, July, August and September at 4pm we will be holding family walks starting and finishing at St Catherine.  The routes will be about 4 miles in length – some circular.  We will have a picnic tea in the church grounds/building afterwards and there will be a chance to view the church.  Please join us with your youngsters and oldsters for these FREE sociable walks with some mindful themes.  Contact Julia for any more detail.

The walk will be in & around Manston itself and then out to Woodchurch.

Walk 2: Tuesday 15th July at 4pm

Walking with Awareness: Mindfulness & Nature

The walk will take us to Flete, Lydden and Coldswood with many lovely views and even some Alpacas!

Walk 3: Tuesday 12th August at 4pm

Walking As Pilgrimage to Sacred Place

We walk as pilgrims to St Augustine’s Cross near Cliffsend.

Walk 4: Tuesday 16 September at 4pm

Walking with Biblical Landscape

During this walk to Pegwell Bay, biblical landscapes will be brought to our imaginations.

Thank you to the 8 people who joined us on our 1^st walk to Woodchurch.  It was a warm afternoon, but we all made it all the way there and all the way back.  It was so nice to meet some people who go to St Mark’s and to see others from St Laurence and then to enjoy being able to sit outside the church for our tea.  5 people from St Catherine’s congregation had everything ready for our return – splendid.  We explored the theme of “Community” and this turned up both positive and negative ideas ranging from litter, gated dwellings, through to horsey communities and amenities for rural living.

THANET FOOD BANK: All items of long-shelf-life food is very welcome, but the stock of

baked beans, tinned desserts, packet meals, pasta, shampoo, shower gel, toilet rolls is particularly low.

SPIRITUALITY HOUR: Spirituality Hour continues monthly at Saint Laurence in the candlelit Beckett Chapel – refreshments at 7pm for 7.30pm. 2^nd July, 6^th August, 3^rd September
