O God, forasmuch as without you we are not able to please you; mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit may in all things direct and rule our hearts. Through Jesus Christ your Son, our Lord, him who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit - one God, now and forever. Amen.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
“Namby Pamby” was the nickname of poet Ambrose Philips, and was brought to the attention of the nation in a book of poetry by Henry Carey. Since then, the expression has been used to refer to something weak and wishy-washy.

ST LAWRENCE CLOCK RESTORATION APPEAL:
Saturday 21st October is Quiz Night in the Parish Hall. Doors open at 6:30pm for a prompt 7:00pm start. Tickets £5.00 per person, tables of 8 available to book. Bring your own drink and nibbles. There will be a raffle for which prizes would be greatly appreciated. Contact Freda on 07732864076 for tickets or to donate a raffle prize.
Friday 3rd November. A concert in St Laurence church by the Coastal Choir. Doors open at 7:00pm for a prompt 7:30pm start. Tickets pre-purchased £8.00 or £10.00 on the night, with all proceeds going to the clock restoration fund.
We will also have a stall at the St Laurence Christmas Fair. More details nearer the time. If you are unable to get along to any of the mentioned events or wish to make a regular monthly donation, remember you can donate direct to the clock restoration fund by bank transfer/online banking or standing order. SAYING GOODBYE SERVICE: 4th November, 11:30, Canterbury Cathedral. This service is aimed at parents and families who have experienced losing a baby at any stage of pregnancy, at birth or in infancy, or have lived with the fact that they are unable to have children – for whatever reason. This might have happened recently or years ago. You can find out more by visiting the website sayinggoodbye.org
