PCC MEETING: 19:00, Wednesday, 25^th September at St Mark’s

PARISH CREATIONTIDE SERVICE: 10am Sunday 29^th September Parish-wide “Creation-tide Communion Service” at St Christophers Newington with commissioning of Anna Friends. Please bring gifts of PLANTS OR BULBS for the St Christopher’s garden and HARVEST FOODS to be distributed in the Newington community.

ST LAURENCE OPEN CHURCH: Volunteers are required to man Open Church on Saturdays during September.  There are 2 shifts each Saturday: 10:00-12:00 and 12:00- 14:00.  Please contact Barbara Byne on 07867 974275 if you are able to offer some time.

FRIENDS OF ST LAURENCE CHURCHYARD: The churchyard maintenance is assisted by volunteers who meet on a Wednesday morning 10:00-12:00.  More volunteers are eagerly welcomed!  Please either contact Barbara Byne on 07867 974275 or turn up on the day. 

ST LAWRENCE CLOCK APPEAL: We are pleased to advise that as at 1^st September we had a total of £9,656, thank you to everyone who donated recently. Saturday 23^rd November: Following the very successful recital by Tim in April, we are pleased to welcome him back at 3:00pm in St Laurence church. Tickets £5.00 per person, to book contact Freda 07732864076 or available on the door. There will be refreshments after the recital.

Friday 20^th December: A Christmas Concert by Thanet Light Orchestra in St Laurence Church. Doors open at 7:00pm for a 7:30pm start. Tickets £10.00 per person, include refreshments. To book contact Freda 07732864076 or available on the door.

BELLRINGING: This is a traditional skill, like thatching or dry-stone walling, which has been handed down from generation to generation over hundreds of years. The bellringers are keen to recruit some younger ringers, if you have children/grandchildren who are in school years 6-13 who may be interested in doing something different, for a Scout or Guide badge or their Duke of Edinburgh’s award, or just inquisitive on how the church bells are rung (adults included) please contact Freda Parker on 07732864076.

THANET SAFE HAVEN: Thanet Safe Haven is now open 24 hours a day 365 days a year! We are Thanet Safe Haven – Mental health Matters. We are co-located at the Thanet Mental Health Unit within QEQM and are now open 24hours. We are a non-clinical alternative to A&E who provide a drop-in service open to anyone who is 18+ and needs crisis mental health support, emotional wellbeing support or anyone who is suffering with anxiety or any other mental health symptoms.  We provide intervention support and create safety and action plans, as well as creating goal-based outcomes to support recovery and signposting into the community to manage their well-being. We are a safe, comfortable, and fully inclusive environment.   THANET FOOD BANK: Most wanted items for September are: baked beans, cereals, tinned meats, tinned fruit, jam. Please either take to your church for collection or deliver to the depot located in the industrial estate behind B&Q.
