THE COLLECT FOR TODAY

Almighty and everlasting God, increase in us your gift of faith that, forsaking what lies behind and reaching out to that which is before, we may run the way of your commandments and win the crown of everlasting joy; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

THOUGHT OF THE WEEK

I go walking, and the hills loom above me, range upon range, one against the other.  I cannot tell where one begins and another leaves off.  But when I talk with God He lifts me up where I can see clearly, where everything has a distinct contour.

Topics will be Ageing Well, Living Well with Dementia and reviewing and developing my role with older people. ANNUAL ALL SOULS’ SERVICE: The annual All Souls’ Service will be held on Wednesday 2nd November at 3pm in the Becket Chapel at St. Laurence. This service is where we remember those who have passed away over the last year. Please contact Marcia Neve for more information.

THE NEXT CTiR PRAYER BREAKFAST will be held on Saturday 5th November at 9:00am. For more information please contact Carl Whitewood (carl.whitewood@salvationarmy.org.uk)

GRAND AUCTION: An auction will be taking place at 7:00pm, Friday 18th November in the Parish Hall to raise funds for the clock restoration appeal.

CLOCK RESTORATION APPEAL: The St Lawrence clock and its four clock faces, paid for by public subscription, was installed in the tower of St Laurence church in 1897. The ravages of time have taken their toll and the clock faces are now in a bad state of repair, with some of them being totally unreadable. The St Lawrence Clock Restoration Appeal is aiming to raise £90,000 in order to restore the clock faces and workings to their former glory. We are being assisted in our task by the Ramsgate (Heritage Regeneration) Trust, who are behind the Ramsgate Tunnels and we are able to take donations by bank transfer/on line payment using sort code 30-98-90, account number 18498668, account name Ramsgate (Heritage Regeneration) Trust using reference St Lawrence Clock. If we receive 3,600 donations of £25.00 we would hit our target really quickly. I know times are tough for all of us so please give what you can to restore our wonderful clock. Thank you. Freda Parker

BREAK THE CYCLE PROJECT: The Break the Cycle Project in St. Christopher House, Newington is looking for volunteers to help do a bit of decorating. If you would like to help, please contact Rev Andrew or the Parish Office.

POWERPOINT VOLUNTEER: Do you have access to a laptop? Can you spare some time to help put together the Power Point for Sunday services at St. Laurence and to operate the projector? If you are able to help or to find out more information please contact either Sharon Cutler or Jane Jacobson.

ST LAURENCE PARISH HALL VOLUNTEERS: We are looking for volunteers to help with the cleaning of the hall and helping to sort through and clear unwanted/broken items. The hall is now starting to attract new bookings due to the newly painted and cleared exterior that the general public are seeing as they go past the building. We would like to continue improving the condition of the hall inside and out so that we can bring in some much needed income to our Parish. If you would like to help with this please contact either Ann Gregson or Kelly Gooding.

OLD SCAFFOLDING BOARDS WANTED: To continue the new and improved exterior of St Laurence Parish Hall, we are looking for any one who has old scaffolding boards in good reasonable condition that they can donate. The boards will be used between the white bollards at the front of the hall. If you can help with this please contact Ann Gregson or Kelly Gooding.

OCTOBER’S MOST WANTED FOOD BANK ITEMS: This months most wanted food items are tinned fruit, pasta, desserts, tinned vegetables, tinned potatoes, biscuits. Thank you for your generosity and continued support; it really is appreciated and still so needed.
