THE COLLECT FOR TODAY

Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness and to put on the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which your Son, Jesus Christ, came to us in great humility; that on the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal.  Through him,  who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit - one God, now and for ever.  Amen.

Notices and Forthcoming Events

ST LAWRENCE CLOCK APPEAL: Thank you to everyone who came along to the organ recital last week. We raised £227 for the clock appeal. With this amount we now have £12,556. Please help us get to £13,000 before the end of the year. We can achieve this if you buy a ticket or two for the Christmas Concert and come along to the Christmas Fair at St Laurence Church where we will have a stall with many delightful items to buy as Christmas presents.

REVERSE ADVENT CALENDER: As we have done for the past few years, the Thanet Food Bank would welcome us participating in collecting food for each day of Advent.  There is a suggested daily list – please ask your warden about this, or see the notice in church – but it can be simplified for weekly contributions: WEEK 1 – savoury tins/jars, WEEK 2 – dried foods, WEEK 3 – cereals and drinks, WEEK 4 sweet items and Christmassy treats. Thank you!

NIGHT PRAYER – COMPLINE: Wednesday, 4th December, 7:30 – 8:30pm in St Laurence Beckett Chapel.  Doors open at 7pm for refreshments and then we begin 7.30pm. It’s at St Laurence Church - candlelit in the Becket chapel - prayers for our whole community & area, mindfulness meditation and reflection. It’s open to the whole parish of five churches - we look forward to seeing you.

ST CATHERINE CHRISTMAS DINNER: Friday, 6th December, 6.30 for 7pm at the Manston village hall.  4-course meal for £20 per person – vegetarian option available. Places are limited to 40.  Contact Cheryl Belsey.  Donations of raffle prizes would be very gratefully received.

ST LAURENCE CHRISTMAS FAIR: Saturday, 7th December, 12.00 to 4.00 pm: We are looking for anyone who is prepared to help with setting up for the Fair, clearing up afterwards and/or running a stall. We also need bottles of wine for the Wine & Water stall, as well as items that can be used as raffle or tombola prizes or that can be sold as gifts. If you can help in any way, please speak to Sharon Cutler, Ann Gregson or Kelly Gooding if you are in St. Laurence Church on any Sunday. Alternatively, contact Ann by email ann.tower@outlook.com. We would also be grateful for any cash donations, as this will enable the Fair Committee to buy prizes for the various stalls. Every penny raised from the Fair goes to Church funds, but we rely heavily on the generosity of our congregations in St. Laurence Parish to make the Fair a success. Even if you feel you cannot contribute towards the Fair, please do make a note of the date and time and come along to support this important fund-raising event – you will be very welcome.  The first prize in the raffle is a flight in the Spitfire simulator at the Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Museum, Manston. A great Christmas surprise for someone!  Many thanks – Ann Gregson

ST CATHERINE’S CHRISTMAS CONCERT: Saturday, 14th December, 7pm.

THANET COMMUNITY GOSPEL CHOIR.  Refreshments will be served after.

There will be a small raffle. Tickets £7 for adults.  FREE to under 18s.
