THE COLLECT FOR TODAY
Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness and to put on the armour of light. Now in the time of this mortal life, in which your Son Jesus Christ came to us in great humility, that on the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal – through him who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

ADMINISTRATION FOR PEW NEWS: Please note that this responsibility has been taken on by Julia Penn of St Catherine’s for the time being. I have taken note of all entries in the office diary between now and the end of the year – please also inform me if you put in something new.
THANET FOOD BANK: The regular long-life items are always wanted, but specifically for November: tinned desserts, pasta, jam, packet meals, cereals. Please take to either the parish office or to church. Have you heard about the “reverse advent calendar” idea? Donate an item for each day of advent instead of receiving a daily advent gift.
ST LAURENCE PARISH HALL VOLUNTEERS: We are looking for volunteers to help with the cleaning of the hall and helping to sort through and clear unwanted/broken items. The hall is now starting to attract new bookings due to the newly painted and cleared exterior that the general public are seeing as they go past the building. We would like to continue improving the condition of the hall inside and out so that we can bring in some much-needed income to our Parish. If you would like to help with this please contact either Ann Gregson or Kelly Gooding.
MOVING DATES: Rev Andrew and Jane will be moving out of the rectory on the 8th December. Please do not use the office car park between 6th and 8th December as it is required for removal vehicles.
CHRISTMAS FAIR DONATIONS:
The Parish Christmas Fair:
Saturday 3rd December in St. Laurence Parish Hall.
We are looking for any donations of the following items to help make this year’s fair a success. Items for the tombola and water or wine stalls, good quality gifts, large good quality soft toys for the soft toy raffle and last but not least cakes, jams and chutneys for the popular cake stall. Please bring any donations to the Parish Office.
FOOTPRINTS: The next meeting of this bereavement group will be on Tuesday, 6th December, 10 – 11.30am. Please note that the meetings will now be held in the Parish Hall. Marcia 01843 585366
CHRISTMAS CONCERT: Thanet Community Gospel Choir will be performing at St Catherine’s church on the evening of 9th December. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30 start. Refreshments will be served at the end of the performance. Tickets available via Cheryl on 585180 or Barbara on 07720 068030 at £5 each or £12 for a family.
CHRISTMAS DINNER: St Catherine’s are hosting this at Manston Village Hall on Friday, 16th Dec. 7 for 7.30pm. £17 per head for a 3-course meal and coffee/tea. Please contact either Cheryl on 585180/07398 038366 or Barbara Redman on 07720 068030
