READINGS FOR TODAY

Acts 2:1-21 or Numbers 11:24-30, Psalm 104:26-36/end,

1Corinthians 12:3b-13, John 20:19-23 / John 7:37-39.

The reading from Acts must be used as either 1st or 2nd reading.

THE COLLECT FOR TODAY

God, who, as at this time, taught the hearts of our faithful people by sending to them the light of your Holy Spirit: grant us by the same Spirit, to have a right judgement in all things and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort – through the merits of Christ Jesus our Saviour, who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit - one God, now and forever. Amen.

These take place at St Mark’s.

MUSIC EXTRAVAGANZA: St Catherine’s church, Preston Rd, Manston (opposite The Jolly Farmer) is continuing with the last of its various music concerts … next Friday we have:

2 June: part 1 - Matt Weston (organist playing favourite hymns),

part 2 - Kellet Gut Shantymen (sea-shanties).

Tickets £7 if booked in advance, £8 on door. Refreshments available, including wine and nibbles. Please contact either Julia Penn on 07979 989115 or Barbara Redman 07720 068030 to book. Bank transfer preferred – details will be given when booking – or card reader machine available at church. Please support these events, tell others, display our poster if you are able and raise money for our parish.

  1. CHURCH: Until the end of September St Laurence Church will be open on Saturdays from 10am – 2pm for visitors to look around. Refreshments will be available and a book-sale table. If anyone would like to volunteer as a “church watcher” please contact Barbara Byne on 7867974275. Book donations would be appreciated.Barbara Byne

CHURCHES TOGETHER PRAYER BREAKFAST: Saturday 3 June, St Ethelbert’s, Hereson Rd.

RECYCLE CLOTHING: If you have a bag or more of unwanted clothes please contact Cheryl Belsey on 07398 038366 to sort out collection. She will take it to the Clothing Bank and receive money which will go into the Parish Funds.

FOOD BANK: Although the parish office is not always open and available to take food donations, you can take them to your church and we will liaise about taking the food over to the food bank. Or you can take your donations directly there – Unit 3c, Westwood Business Park, Strasbourg Street, Margate CT9 3JJ (behind B&Q/ Home Bargains). If the warehouse is closed there is a chest where items can be left safely in the business park central office lobby (first door on left as you enter the ‘courtyard’).
