Almighty Father, who in your great mercy gladdened the disciples with the sight of the risen Lord: give us such knowledge of his presence with us, that we may be strengthened and sustained by his risen life and serve you continually in righteousness and truth. Through the merits of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit – one God, now and for ever.

MUSIC EXTRAVAGANZA: This annual event will be happening at St Catherine’s once again on four of the Fridays in May. The remaining performers this year are:
9th May Men of Chalk + Marlody + Eleanor Gracie (vocals, guitar, keyboard, mixed genre) 16th May David Lammler (organ and keyboard – popular classics and classic pop) 23rd May Greyhound Buskers (ukeleles, vocals – popular songs).
Performances will start at 7pm. £8 per evening or £24 for all 4, if booked in advance - contact Barbara Redman. Bank Transfer or Card Reader available. £9 on the door. Please tell and bring your friends and families.
VE DAY: A service will be held at the Spitfire and Hurricane Museum at 11am on Thursday 8th May. In the afternoon there will be a celebration of the 80-year anniversary with tea in the grounds of St Catherine’s church in Manston. This will be held inside if the weather is inclement. Please book with Cheryl. (No charge – donation gratefully received)
THE BEREAVEMENT AND PASTORAL MEETING: will now take place on the 16th not the 2nd.May. Meeting at Southwood Gardens.2pm. – Marcia.
SPIRITUALITY HOUR: Spirituality Hour continues monthly at Saint Laurence in the candlelit Beckett Chapel – refreshments at 7pm for 7.30pm 7th May 4th June
ST LAURENCE CLOCK APPEAL: A concert by The Coastal Choir led by our organist Edward will take place in St Laurence church on Friday 9th May 7:30pm (Doors open at 7:00pm). Tickets are £10.00 each and include refreshments. Tickets may be purchased on the door or in advance from Freda - freda.parker@sky.com. Tickets are also available from Edward and The Coastal Choir. Please support the event as all the proceeds will be going to the Clock Restoration Appeal. Saturday 31st May 10:00am to 4:00pm Art Show in St Laurence Church with a preview on the Friday evening. A few tables are still available to book to show and sell your artwork, contact Mick on 07966225217. Saturday 28th June Open Garden with strawberries and cream – running from 10:00am until 5:00pm at Thorn Gardens, CT11 7AS. There will be a chance to wander round Pat’s amazing garden taking in all the delights, while sitting and having most delicious strawberries and cream tea. There will also be a tombola and a raffle. There is no charge to enter, however Pat has requested that you donate what you think your strawberries and cream tea is worth and give what you can to the clock restoration appeal on the day.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: Note the date: Annual Parochial Church Meeting – Sunday 18th May 12.45pm at St Mark’s (refreshments/lunch beforehand from 12 noon).
ST LAURENCE BELL RINGERS: will be taking part in the annual Canterbury District 6 Bell Striking competition on Saturday 10th May at St Bartholomew’s Church, Waltham. This is an interesting place to ring because the bell ropes are in the Chancel and in full view of the congregation. We wish the ringers the best of luck in this competition.
BELL SUNDAY: will be on 18th May this year. There will be a special service at 10:00 at St Laurence Church which will celebrate bells and bell ringing. Please come along to hear about why we ring the bells and the work the bell ringers do throughout the church year.
YOUTH SCAPE LAUNCHPAD DIOCESAN EVENT: Monday 2nd June, 6:30pm for 7-9pm at St Laurence Church. Please find four or more people from your church to attend this event. Clergy, LLMs and those Lay people involved with young people's work - or would like to be in the future - as well as young people themselves are invited - 11yrs upwards. Bishop Rose will be attending this fun event.
