Almighty God, who sent your Holy Spirit to be the life and light of your Church, open our hearts to the riches of your grace, that we may bring forth the fruit of the Spirit in love and joy and peace. Through Jesus Christ, your son, our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit - one God, now and forever. Amen.

SUMMER FAIR: Saturday 12th August in the St Laurence Rectory grounds. 2pm – 5pm. PLEASE ATTEND IF YOU POSSIBLY CAN AND BRING FRIENDS AND FAMILY! Ann and Kelly are still looking for volunteers URGENTLY to help set up and clear away the stalls… 9am and 5pm. PLEASE offer your help if you are able (Ann:597170 / Kelly:07876 031036).

FOLK WEEK EVENT: On Thursday, 17th August Chartwell House (Care Home) has arranged “dementia friendly folk”… a performance by Gentle Ceilidh with The Bubble Band at Sarah Thorne Theatre 3-5.30pm. Tickets are available through Judith Andrews or by calling 01843 264865. £5.

RIDE AND STRIDE: On Saturday 9th September, this annual sponsored event will take place: it involves either cycling or walking to as many churches as possible, and, if the weather is fine, it is a very enjoyable event.
Sponsor forms are in churches now. Please ask. St Mark’s and St Catherine’s are looking for volunteers to man the churches between the hours of 10am and 6pm/4pm and it is feasible for this to be sponsored also. Some of the money raised goes to the CofE and a percentage comes back to the parish in which it was raised. Please contact your church warden if you are able to offer any time to have our churches open on this day. Suggestion: what about having a shared lunch?

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Help is needed over the summer to remove weeds from the gulley which surrounds the church at St Laurence. Friends of the Churchyard meet on Wednesdays from 10:00-12:00 .

SAVE THE DATES: Future fund-raising events for the St Lawrence Clock Restoration Appeal are being launched. We will have an information stall at the Summer Fair - do come along to find out how things are going and how YOU can help reach our target. Saturday 16th September The Thanet Male Voice Choir are giving a concert in aid of the St Lawrence Clock Restoration Appeal and Pancreatic Cancer Research at the Sarah Thorne Theatre in Broadstairs. Tickets £12.00 each in advance from www.sarahthornetheatre.co.uk or £14.00 on the night. Saturday 21st October is Quiz Night in the Parish Hall. More details nearer the time of each event and other fund-raising events will be published in due course. If you are unable to get along to any of the mentioned events or wish to make a regular monthly donation, remember you can donate direct to the clock restoration fund by bank transfer/online banking or standing order. OPEN CHURCH: Until the end of September St Laurence Church will be open on Saturdays from 10am – 2pm for visitors to look around. Refreshments will be available and a book-sale table.
