THE COLLECT FOR TODAY
Almighty Lord and everlasting God, we beseech you to direct, sanctify and govern both our hearts and bodies in the ways of your laws and the works of your commandments; that through your most mighty protection, both here and ever, we may be preserved in body and soul; through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

URGENT! SUMMER FAIR VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED: The St Laurence Fair is being held on Saturday 13th August, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm in the grounds of St Laurence Junior Academy, on Newington Road, opposite the Fire Station. The fair is aiming to raise lots of funds for the parish. To make any fair a success requires an enormous amount of work. Could you be part of that success? We are desperately looking for volunteers from across the parish to help with setting up, running stalls and helping to clear up afterwards. If you are able to help please contact Freda Parker on 07732 864076. If you are volunteering please bring sunhats and parasols and stands to help shade from the sun. Nearest parking is available at The Pie Factory opposite Ellington Infants School.
SUMMER FAIR DONATIONS: We are looking for donations towards our very popular Wheelbarrow of Booze for the Summer Fair. If you are able to help by providing any bottles or cans towards this please can you bring them into the Parish Office. We also need games (preferably complete), items for tombola and gifts. The office is open Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays between 9am and 11am. Every donation is appreciated as it will raise much needed funds for the Parish.
SUMMER FAIR TABLE HIRE: Tables are available to hire at our Summer Fair for the bargain price of £15. All proceeds will go towards Parish Funds.
DOMINIC DOWNS RECITAL: A talented young pianist, Dominic Downs, is doing a free recital with retiring collection on Saturday August 20th at the Ramsgate Salvation Army Citadel at 2:00pm. Parking is available at Cannon Road Car Park, a two-minute walk away from the venue, and free of charge on a Saturday. The recital is to raise money for the Salvation Army Community Fund which supports struggling local people with food, household goods and utility bills. Dominic has just finished Year 13 at Chetham's School of Music where he studied piano and composition and will start studying at the Royal College of Music this September with a scholarship awarded for outstanding musical potential. His programme includes Beethoven (Tempest sonata) plus major works by Mozart, Bach and Schumann. There will be an interval with refreshments available.
