Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we to pray, and to give more than either we desire or deserve: pour down upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid and giving us those good things which we are not worthy to ask, but through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ, your son, our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit – one God, now and for ever.

FAMILY WALKS: Start and finish at St Catherine’s. Bring a picnic tea to have at the church afterwards. Drinks will be provided. Our final one for this season is 4pm Tues 16 September – we look forward to seeing you. SPIRITUALITY HOUR: Spirituality Hour Peace filled Night Prayer & Meditation continues…and launching a new theme for the reflections ‘biblical geography’ - monthly at St Laurence in the candlelit Beckett Chapel – refreshments at 7pm for 7.30pm, 10th September, 1st October, 5th November.

HERITAGE OPEN DAY Saturday 13th September. St Laurence will be open from 10:00am to 4:00pm for anyone to come and visit. We request people to help with the event - refreshments, church sitting, church tours, meet and greet, clock information stand, bell information stand. We also request refreshments, so cakes, scones, biscuits etc on the day will be very welcome. We intend to offer a have a go at bellringing experience but will need people to be in church should we get anyone wishing to go up the tower. There is a signup sheet in St Laurence’s with various jobs on, if you can’t get to the sign-up sheet please ring or text Freda on 07732864076 with your offer of help.
RIDE AND STRIDE: Saturday, 13th September, 10:00 – 17:00. Each of our churches will be open to receive riders and walkers who are taking part in this event. You can also be sponsored to person the church. 50% of the amount raised is returned to the church where it was raised. The other 50% is used to provide grants for Kent churches. Contact Kevin Spain

Monthly Bible Study, discussion & refreshments at the Rectory: Weds evenings 6.30pm at the St Laurence Rectory with discussion & refreshments. Weds 15 Oct, 19 Nov, 10 Dec and will continue in 2026. This is starting up for those new to faith and also for anyone wishing to deepen their understanding of the Bible and feel part of a supportive group. All are welcome from across the whole Parish.. ST LAURENCE CLOCK RESTORATION APPEAL: Grateful thanks is expressed to everyone who has supported us in one way or another over the last 2 years. As at the 1st September we have £18,021 in the bank. We have two more fundraising events this year, and along with proceeds from the Thanet Lotto, Go Fund Me, Easyfunding and direct donations into the clock restoration bank account we feel confident we will reach £20,000 by the end of the year. Please tell your friends and families of all the ways money can be given to the appeal. The sooner we get to £40,000 the sooner we will be able to access larger matched funding grants. Please help us to achieve our goal of bringing the clock faces and running mechanisms back to their former glory. DATES FOR YOUR DIARY: 1st November: Quiznight at St Laurence Parish Hall. 19th December: A Christmas Concert by The Thanet Light Orchestra in St Laurence Church.
Shoe Box Scheme: Malcolm Story writes: A question about Blythswood Care, and the shoe box scheme. I know that Zoe was a keen advocate for the scheme in St Laurence parish.
