Notices and Forthcoming Events

SEA SUNDAY: Seafarers and fishers play a vital role in all of our lives, but they often work in difficult, hazardous conditions. In the last year, more crews have been abandoned by their employers than ever before. Many are still being denied the right to leave their ships for even a short break away from the relentless noise and pressure onboard. Many are reporting more stress and poorer mental health. On Sea Sunday the Church prays for all those who live and work at sea. Your support will make a big difference to seafarers and fishers in need. You can donate in church with either cash or by card, or you can donate by visiting www.stellamaris.org.uk/donate, or by texting ‘SEA’ to 70460 to donate £5. This collection is vital to enable Stella Maris to continue its important work, so please give generously. Thank you

THURSDAY FELLOWSHIP: The programme for the next few weeks is as follows:

13 July Kisumu Orphanage update – Peter Brierley

20 July Strawberry Tea

17 Aug Bring and Share Tea

These take place at St Mark’s.

OPEN CHURCH: Until the end of September St Laurence Church will be open on Saturdays from 10am – 2pm for visitors to look around. Refreshments will be available and a book-sale table. If anyone would like to volunteer as a “church watcher” please contact Barbara Byne on 7867974275. Book donations would be appreciated.Barbara Byne

SAVE THE DATES: Future fund-raising events for the St Lawrence Clock Restoration Appeal are being launched. On Saturday 12th August we will have an information stall at the church fair (St Laurence Rectory grounds), do come along to find out how things are going and how YOU can help reach our target. Saturday 16th September The Thanet Male Voice Choir are giving a concert in aid of the St Lawrence Clock Restoration Appeal and Pancreatic Cancer Research at the Sarah Thorne Theatre in Broadstairs. Tickets £12.00 each in advance from www.sarahthornetheatre.co.uk or £14.00 on the night. Saturday 21st October is Quiz Night in the Parish Hall. More details nearer the time of each event and other fund-raising events will be published in due course. If you are unable to get along to any of the mentioned events or wish to make a regular monthly donation, remember you can donate direct to the clock restoration fund by bank transfer/online banking or standing order. The bank account is with Lloyds Bank in the name of Ramsgate (Heritage Regeneration) Trust, sort code 30-98-90 account number 18498668. Thank you for all your support.
